The youth of UBC are being taught about the importance of making quality decisions based on the Word of God. They are CHOOSING that which leads to BLESSINGS, not curses, LIFE, not death. The purpose of The Upperroom Bible Church’s Youth Department is to minister to the needs of youth between the ages of 13 and 19 years old by providing ways for youth to understand and know God. Our challenge is to share and enable the youth to experience the “Gospel” – the Good News of God – in every possible way, using every medium to convey it over and over.

The facts and statistics on teenage gangs, drugs, pregnancy and incarceration are alarming. Under the guise of “the in thing” and “everyone is doing it”; the world is offering our teens a free pass to destruction. It is the intention of this ministry to offer our teens a better way of life through skillful guidance and proper direction. The Teens Program, SWORD, is their alternative, their choice and their decision.
This program will lead them on a path to escape the downfalls in life. They will be given the proper perspective of a moral and successful life as young Christians. Here at The Upperroom Bible Church, we believe it is our mandate to play a major part in their development and their success.
SWORD Program Overview
The objectives of The Upperroom Bible Church’s Teen Program are:
1. To enhance the Spiritual Growth of our teens through proper and comprehensive ministry of the Word of God.
2. To enrich their spiritual development through special emphasis on academic success, social training and image building.
3. To encourage them to become involved in Christian recreation and activities such as camps, retreats, workshops and more.=This is an ongoing ministry that meets regularly with our teens. It is operated with the same passion as the other programs at The Upperroom Bible Church. The teens are very special to us and they have expressed a desire to improve their lives through the leadership of this ministry. We are committed to make special investments in their academic, social and recreational lives.

PURPOSE OF THE CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
The purpose of The Upperroom Bible Church’s Children Ministry is to minister to the needs of the children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old “to walk into an experience with Jesus”. Children are taught praise & worship, prayer, testimony, songs of victory and Word songs. The Word is ministered at their level through puppet ministry, skits, storybooks, tapes, videos and other creative teaching methods. Children are taught reverence and respect for God, His House and His Word.
The Upperroom Bible Church is designed to accept and minister to each child as an individual, rather than fitting them into some type of mode of what we think children are like or should be like. We realize that children learn through seeing, touching, hearing, tasting and smelling. Children learn through doing – playing, exploring, experiencing, experimenting, initiating, creating and wondering. Children learn through feelings – of being loved, of being secure, of being valued, of being accepted and of being forgiven.
Our goals are in obedience to the will of God. Jesus says “… permit the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; …” (Mark 10:14)
The Word of God also says, “Train up a child in the way he should go…” (Proverbs 22:6)
At The Upperroom Bible Church, we know that Jesus loves children. We love children and we receive, accept and welcome them in His name. (Matthew 18:5) Our staff enables children to realize that they are unique children of God, able to live out the Good News of God’s love moment by moment, knowing who they are in Christ.
CHILDREN'S CHURCHThe Upperroom Bible Church’s Children Church ministers to children according to their respective age groups. The children are separated into groups according to their respective ages to help us meet their specific needs and demands. The groups are as follows:
Fruit of the Spirit Ages 3-4 years old Learn the concepts of the Fruit of the Spirit Seeds of Abraham Ages 5-6 years old Learn the concept of faith in God Tree of Life Ages 7-8 years old Becoming rooted in the Word of God Faith Crusaders Ages Ages 9-10 years old Walking by faith and sharing the Word of God Joshua Generation Ages 11-12 years old Preteens who are “on fire” for Jesus SWORD Ages 13-19 years old Teenagers who are “on fire” for Jesus
Schedule of services for Children’s Church
Ages 3 years through 12 years old Sunday at 9:00 AM North Shore Sunday at 11:00 AM South Shore Ages 3 years through 19 years old Wednesday at 7:15 PM North Shore Thursday at 7:15 PM South Shore Mid-week Bible Study
The mid-week service is the perfect opportunity for your children to be taught the Word of God while the adult Bible Study service is in progress.
Children’s Church Monitoring System1. Each parent or guardian will be given a numbered check slip(s) when you sign in your child(ren). We ask that you keep the check slip(s) on your lap so that you may respond promptly.
2. If for any reason you are needed to report back to the Nursery or classroom, you will be notified when your number flashes on the monitor.
3. When services are concluded, the parent or guardian is asked to go back to the Nursery or your appropriate class and return the check slip(s) to pick up your child(ren).
4. If for any reason you do not fully understand the procedures for the system, please ask any staff member of the Youth Department for clarification.
